Tigerlight was engaged by Transport for NSW, in collaboration with the City of Coffs Harbour Council, to deliver a tailored street lighting solution for the new Coffs Harbour Boat Ramp.
The project required strict compliance with a highly specific performance, environmental, and regulatory brief.
The site presented a number of technical and environmental constraints.
Located in a coastal marine environment, both luminaires and poles were required to meet enhanced corrosion resistance standards. All components were specified with double powder coating, including poles supplied by GM Poles, to ensure long-term durability in salty conditions.
The proximity of the site to Coffs Harbour Airport introduced additional complexity, with all lighting required to comply with CASA regulations relating to obtrusive light and upward light control.
Adjacent to the boat ramp is Mutton Bird Island, a culturally significant and environmentally sensitive nature reserve. To protect nesting seabird populations, the lighting design called for warm white, low-glare luminaires with strict control of light spill.
DALI lighting control was also specified to allow scheduled operation and adaptive dimming in response to site usage.

The Solution
Tigerlight delivered a customised street lighting solution using our Tailor-Made platform, engineered to meet each aspect of the project brief. The final lighting design completed by Tigerlight in house MIES lighting designers comprises:
- A total of 64 Tigerlight Streetlights were delivered in custom double charcoal powder coating.
30 x SLC040 in T3M optic
18 x SLC080 in T4M optic
14 x SLC080 in T4S optic
2 x SLC120 in T4VS optic - DALI controlled Inventronics drivers
- 3000k CRI80 LED chipsets in consideration of the wildlife-sensitive Mutton Bird Island.
- Bird spikes to keep local birdlife off the luminaires.
The result is a robust, compliant lighting installation that balances safety, durability, and environmental responsibility in a highly constrained coastal setting.
